Don’t beat yourself up about it.

Unfortunately, we all go through adversity in our lives. Life struggles not only keep us from moving forward, but can also paralyze us. Difficulties can affect our motivation and even influence how we feel about ourselves and our ability to cope.

Everyone responds differently to adversity. Most of us eventually do return to our previous state of well-being. But there’s a limit. Too many negative events can overwhelm your ability to cope. While adversity can enhance resilience, having too many stressors can hinder daily coping.

If you have dealt with adversity in your life and haven’t recovered in a way you think you need to, don’t beat yourself up about it. Your experiences are unique to you.

Be kind to yourself. You truly deserve this. Seek out the assistance of a therapist to help you begin to heal.

Tell me your story.

  1. Deb,

Hi Carrie: Wonderful advice on your blog, would it be ok to link the odd post of yours to my blog. In other words, I would state a comment, and a small paragraph and then link where my readers would be able to link up to: https://www.carrienet.com/. I won’t until I receive an ok from you.

My “Living In Stigma” blog was started in 2007 with the purpose in mind of hoping education would end mental illness stigma
