Why is it that we know what we want but still don’t do it?

Do you wish you’d been a little braver? Do you wish you would have trusted in yourself more? Do you wish you had taken more risks, settled less or spoken up more?

While the status quo is not particularly fulfilling, it can seem like an easier, softer, less scary, option. It’s much simpler to keep our mouths closed and our heads buried in the sand than make a change or take a chance.

Nevertheless, it is important to understand what you’re afraid of. Intelligent chance taking doesn’t mean just jumping. It means looking carefully, weighing possibilities, thinking out possible outcomes, and making a considered decision. Therapy can help you sort through your options.
