Priorities are things in your life that are important to you. We prioritize our tasks, our ways, our likes and dislikes, people, and even relations. Priorities can change slowly over the course of time or change abruptly, especially when you face serious shakeups, hardships or frightening events in your life.
Examples:
• A choice to not to return to work at a stressful high-paying job because your health has become a top priority.
• A choice to live closer to your aging parents because spending time with family has become a priority.
• A choice to end a friendship because it makes us feel bad about ourselves, and self-worth has become a priority.
• A choice to give up partying and irresponsibility because success has become a priority.
• Rearranging your hectic work schedule to attend your child’s baseball game because quality time with your children is a priority.
If you are not spending your time and your days according to what is most important to you, chances are you will end up feeling stressed, unsatisfied, and disappointed with your life.
“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities” ~Stephen Covey
