After important losses, we struggle with feelings of emptiness, purposeless and loneliness. Chronic worry, pressure and sleepless nights can take a huge toll on our physical and mental energy. It is common to feel overwhelmed with questions and riddled with doubts. Routine tasks seem to take tremendous effort.
Emotional strength comes from your ability to manage your emotions. Being mentally strong doesn’t mean you don’t ever experience emotions. Rather, mental strength requires you to become acutely aware of your emotions so you can make the best choice about how to respond. Therapy teaches you to respond more positively to challenges, losses and difficulties.
Going at it alone means taking responsibility for your own behavior and choosing responses which promote your health and well being. Strength lies in accepting your feelings without being controlled by them.
