You have to save yourself.

Many people get into relationships to fill a void or an emptiness within. We find ourselves in relationships that nourish what is lacking within ourselves. We look for someone to give us something that we haven’t been able to give ourselves. We search for someone holding the missing puzzle piece, to make our puzzle complete.

However, this doesn’t take into account that if we don’t do the work, we can’t expect the results we want. If we don’t confront what needs to be confronted, we will never be able to learn what we are supposed to learn.

Waiting to be rescued is demoralizing, anxiety producing and exasperating. It leaves us feeling that our happiness is at the mercy of other people. It leaves us needy, helpless and dependent. In this state, the best we can do is hope we’ll be saved.

The “ah-ha” moments happens when you realize the entire time you’ve been sitting around waiting to be saved, you could have just done the work yourself.

You have the skills to make it work. We all do. You have to save yourself. No one else will do it for you. Only you can sign on the dotted line. Start building. Start therapy.

Tell me your story.
